Planes, Planes, and More Planes

Planes have been all the rage around here. Weekend before last the three of us went to a Radio Controlled Airplane show; a first for all of us. We showed up towards the end and so only caught two of the events, both of which made a pretty big impression on the little guy. In the first a tow plane carried a long streamer behind it, which 8-10 other planes raced to cut. In print this sounds pretty mundane, but to watch was pretty impressive. I wish my depth perception was that good.

The last event was a flight demonstration of an RC jet. It actually was powered by jet fuel. It was loud, fast, and emitted a lot of smoke, so it definitely got Silas' attention.

After we got home I set out an invitation with mini airplanes and some play dough, but he mostly wanted to use the planes in dramatic play; chasing them around the house trying to cut an imaginary streamer. An afternoon well spent.

  1. I love following a child's lead and allowing their interests to flourish and grow. Lovely play provocation.

    Wishing you a wonderful day.
