Butterflies and Grandparents

We capped off our week of butterflies by taking a day trip to visit the grandparents who happen to live near a butterfly house. It was, in a word, magical. To step into the hot, humid room and to be literally surrounded by these delicate, floating creatures...it was amazing. I was thrilled to get to see the giant Atlas Moth in person, but Silas' favorite was the Owl Butterfly. He spent a long time, squatting down so that he could watch them and we had to make a second trip into the habitat so that he could tell them "good-bye." He also requested to visit the display of chrysalides several times and said he thought that one was just about to emerge. It was definitely worth the trip.
