Weekending

This weekend was an attack of the stinkhorns! We've had these funky orange mushrooms sprout up before, but never this many of them. They get their name because they emit an odor not unlike rotting flesh; a fantastic thing to have growing outside your front door, for sure.

It was a full weekend for us and a bit of a whirlwind. Friday night we got a visit from grandpa and a delivery of a big boy bed (!). Saturday was a long drive up north for an engagement party where Silas spent all evening playing tag with the big kids in the dancing light of a bonfire. Smiles and laughter and running. It was so amazing to watch him interact with cousins and friends and  heartwarming to see the ways in which they included him and looked out for him. Then a long drive home and early bedtimes for all.

Happy Labor Day everyone!

  6. I guess it is big kid bed week. We just made the switch to a toddler bed last week too! Though it was long in coming. Clayton starting climbing out of his crib just after we moved here in July and we just finally got around to picking up a safety rail. No more 3am bonked chins and smashed noses!
