Amerie Cowl

Here is the Amerie Cowl! I looked all over for the band from this ball of yarn with no luck. I am a very bad knitting blogger. My resolution should be to record my yarn the minute I take the band off so the info isn't lost forever. My memory can't be trusted either. I know that it's Alpaca and I used one skein that was under 100 yards and that's about it. But here it is. I really liked this little pattern. It's my first cowl and both the provisional cast on and the three needle bind off were new to me. The BO was a little clumsy, but my least favorite part of knitting is sewing up seams, so it was a nice way to avoid that step.

And now this little gem will go back into the closet until we have some weather that is not in the 90s.

  1. Courtney,I love it and want to cast one on too. I have never done a provisional cast on or a three needle bind off, but I think it's time to learn.

  2. You look so lovely in your cowl! Maybe on your other posts there is a photo of the tag? Just don't put it in the washer :) Lovely shade of burnt orange!!!

    1. Aww, thanks, Melissa! The funny thing is, my mom was a color analyst in the 80s and deemed me a "winter" meaning that I'm not "supposed" to wear orange. It's been so beaten into my brain that I actually do have a hard time wearing it. :)

  6. You look lovely in it. What a pretty day too. So shady and cheerful. The cowl is wonderful - is it long enough to wrap twice round to fit more snuggly during wintertime?

P.S. - love your outfit too with all that linen and linen/cotton. Did you make it or part of it?

    1. Thanks so much for your kind words, Ellen! I wish that I could wrap it around twice, but it's just a hair too short. I have a plan for a twist with a sweater pin, though. :)

Not a stitch of my clothing was sewn by me, although I wish that I could take credit! I got the shirt at Target ages ago and the pants are from Truly Organic (http://www.truly-organic-clothing.com/shop/). They are my absolute favorite spring pants. Sewing garments is definitely at the top of my to-learn list.

  7. I am so bad with that too! I never save the labels and totally forget what yarn it is. I am also terrible with labeling my hand spun. Your cowl looks great on you!

  8. Your cowl is so pretty! I have a bad habit of keeping ALL the bands, and then never remember which ball they go with.

  10. Looks great Courtney, lovely colour. Never heard of the provisional cast on or the 3 needle bind off but if it means no sewing up seams it must be a good idea!

  17. this is so pretty, such a lovely accesory on you! and such a cute photo of you and baby. i had the same thing happen with color and my mother, isn't it funny how those things stay with you. i remember when that was so popular, being a certain color. it took me a long time to just wear what i love and not think about if its right for me. enjoy your beautiful cowl courtney!
