This weekend was...
yard clean-up and the first burn pile of the year,
visits to the pet store to see the fish (he signed "bird" when he first saw them),
the procurement of more yarn to finish the kanoko pants,
an improvised Spanish rice recipe that might be a new favorite,
temperatures that ranged from 50 in the morning to 80 by dinnertime,
a new obsession with looking for birds outside,
the implementation of a new family budget and saving plan (I've dubbed 2012 "the year of financial responsibility"),
and a complete lack of any April Fool's jokes (we are both very poor pranksters).
How about you?
Linking up with Amanda at The Habit of Being.

we celebrated our youngest grandkidlets 1st birthday! as for april fools, i did have a 5 year old fool me~ *lol* he was so pleased~
ReplyDeletei think the fact that yesterday was april fools sort of escaped us too.
ReplyDeletei love those kanoko pants...are you adding short rows in the bum to allow for cloth diapering? i think it was the one reason i hadn't knit those yet and then as i was looking through patterns a few days ago, i thought to myself, "just add short rows." funny, how something so obvious has escaped me so long - nothing a good night's sleep can't fix though ;-)
I am not quite that ambitious! Actually, one of the reasons I chose this pattern is because it lacked the short rows. For some reason, short rows intimidate me (probably because of my many failed attempts at knitting soakers) and I wanted a little more garment practice before I tried them again. But these suckers are big enough that I think they'll fit over the cloth diapers, no problem. :)
DeleteI read several books over and over again this weekend too, goodness help me and it's not like I didn't have a huge stack sitting right beside me! :)
ReplyDeleteSpanish rice is on my menu this week, these guys inhale it.
I read Goodnight Moon and Where the Wild Things Are to the point that I had them memorized. It was worth it though. We had a quiet weekend and I really enjoyed that. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGoodnight Moon is a nightly favorite, but we haven't introduced WTWTA, yet. Maybe it's time!
DeleteI've been honing our budget this year, menu planning has been the biggest money saver for me ! Lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best on your year of financial responsibility! Sounds like a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely weekend. Ahhhh, financial responsibility and budgeting, not fun, but has to be done. It is the kind of grown up stuff I wish someone else would do :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week.
Awesome weekend! The year of financial responsibility seems to be a theme in the world we live in. (I LOVE those grubby little hands by the way... great photo).
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteI could send Chase your way -- he's still getting good use out of his whoopie cushion. ;)
