Weekending

This weekend was...

all-night nursing, extra-strong coffee,
baking rice and whole wheat bread,
practicing signs (we're working on "help," "hurt," and "gentle"),
loading up a box to take to the consignment store,
cuddling inside as giant snowflakes fell from the sky,
almost finishing a sweater for Silas, getting ready to cast on something new,
eating turnip soup (it's way better than it sounds, I assure you),
experimenting with beet pizza,
and dancing to some Foggy Mountain Boys.

Linking up with Amanda at The Habit of Being.

  2. I was also wondering about the beet pizza! Tell us more.. And snow! It's long gone here already.. Well, actually, there wasn't really that much of it, this year. It's so lovely to see it in your pictures, at least!

    1. I think our snow will be gone in a couple of days as well. We're enjoying it while we can, at least!

  3. love that first photo! so pretty.

we had to do signs until recently with our 3 1/2yo...it was a bit overwhelming at first but i was so encouraged by how quickly he caught on and the other kids caught on. not sure if you have iphone or not but the people that put out the signing times videos have an app that he still enjoys very much.

  4. No thanks to turnip soup, my husband would love it though as he loves to pull turnips out of the ground and eat them right in the field.
I am curious about the beet pizza as lately I eat beets about 5 to 6 times a week.
    Beautiful snow pictures!

    1. The beet pizza recipe we tried was good, but I think I'll fine tune it a bit the next time we make it. On the dough we spread olive oil and topped it with chopped, roasted beets, caramelized onions, and feta. Bake at 475 for about 10 minutes. I'd like to try it with raw shredded beets to see if we can skip the roasting step! :)

    1. Sadly, our beets were without greens, but I would have loved to included them had they been there! :)
